Untuk mencapai hasil yang memuaskan, kususnya dalam hal pemipaan pada sebuah proyek yang menggunakan pipa PVC, dalam pemilihan material harus diperhatikan fungsi saluran instalasi disesuaikan dengan klasifikasi pipa PVC yang akan digunakan. Adapun beberapa standard pipa PVC yang kerap kali ditentukan untuk menjadi spek pada sebuah proyek adalah:

  • Standard pabrik.
  • Standard JIS.
  • Standard SNI.

STANDARD PABRIK

Ciri-ciri pipa PVC dengan standard pabrik adalah:
  • Class AW (Association Water) dan D (Drainase).
  • Panjang pipa 4 meter.
  • Warna putih atau abu-abu.
Hingga saat ini kita dapat menemukan berbagai merek pipa PVC di toko-toko bahan bangunan yang menggunakan class AW maupun D, namun memiliki kualitas yang berfariasi. Oleh sebab itu sebelum membeli secara ritel di toko bahan bangunan, ada baiknya anda mengetahui tips memilih pipa PVC.

STANDAR JIS (Japan Industrial Standard)

Ciri-ciri pipa PVC dengan standard JIS adalah:
  • Class VP dan VU.
  • Panjang pipa 4 meter.
  • Warna abu-abu.

SNI (Standard Nasional Indonesia)

Ciri-ciri pipa PVC dengan standard SNI adalah:
  • Class S-10 dan S-12,5.
  • Panjang pipa 6 meter.
  • Warna putih atau abu-abu.
Sekalipun saat ini ada begitu banyak merek pipa PVC yang dapat kita temukan di pasaran dengan menggunakan class sebagaimana yang kami sebutkan diatas, namun tidak semuanya memiliki faktor keamanan yang baik. Salah satu tips yang dapat kami bagikan adalah dengan melihat daftar harga dari suatu merek pipa. Jikalau merek tersebut memiliki standardisasi yang berlaku sebagaimana yang ditetapkan oleh BSN (Badan Standardisasi Nasional) maka pada daftar harga dari sebuah merek pipa akan mencantumkan tekanan kerja yang dimiliki oleh merek pipa PVC tersebut, karena produsen pipa PVC yang mengikuti standard BSN selalu mengadakan pengujian terhadap hasil produksinya sebelum didistribusikan pada konsumen, sehingga tekanan kerja sebagaimana yang dicantumkan dalam daftar harga dapat dipertanggung jawabkan.

Application

GF Harvel PVC corrosion resistant pressure pipe, IPS sizes 1/8″ through 24″, is ideal for use in applications with temperatures up to and including 140°F. Pressure rating (120 psi to 1230 psi) varies with schedule, pipe size, and temperature. It is generally resistant to most acids, bases, salts, aliphatic solutions, oxidants, and halogens. Chemical resistance data is available and should be referenced for proper material selection. GF Harvel PVC pipe exhibits excellent physical properties and flammability characteristics. Typical applications include: chemical processing, plating, high purity applications, potable water systems, water and wastewater treatment, irrigation, agricultural, and other industrial applications involving corrosive fluid transfer.

Sample Specification

All PVC Schedule 80 pipe shall be manufactured from a Type I, Grade I Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) compound with a Cell Classification of 12454 per ASTM D1784. The pipe shall be manufactured in strict compliance to ASTM D1785, consistently meeting and/or exceeding the Quality Assurance test requirements of this standard with regard to material, workmanship, burst pressure, flattening, and extrusion quality. The pipe shall be manufactured in the USA, using domestic materials, by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer. Standard lengths of pipe sizes 6″ and larger shall be beveled each end by the pipe manufacturer. All pipe shall be stored indoors after production at the manufacturing site until shipped from factory. This pipe shall carry the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) seal of approval for potable water applications. All pipe shall be manufactured by GF Harvel.® PLASTICS, INC

Aplication

Corrosion resistant pressure pipe, IPS sizes 1/4″ through 24″, for use at temperatures up to and including 200°F. Pressure rating (130 psi to 1130 psi) varies with schedule, pipe size, and temperature as stated in GF Harvel engineering bulletin (Product Bulletin 112/401). Generally resistant to most acids, bases, salts, aliphatic solutions, oxidants, and halogens. Chemical resistance data is available and should be referenced for proper material selection. Pipe exhibits excellent physical properties and flammability characteristics (independently tested flame and smoke characteristics- ULC,1993). Typical applications include: chemical processing, plating, high purity applications, hot and cold potable water systems, water and wastewater treatment, and other industrial applications involving hot corrosive fluid transfer.
